Precision full spectrum sound, nice magnetic shielding, 75W of raw power – these speakers throws everything else into dust!
I needed speakers for my office to play music through iPhone as well as PC. My first criteria was they must have full spectrum range (20Hz-20KHz) and that usually also means it need have dedicated bass speaker (i.e. 2.1 system). It just surprised me to no end that almost all 2.1 speakers in market including the expensive ones from well known companies like Logitech did not actually have full range! Infect after thoroughly looking at current line of products from Logitech and Creative I really think that they are ripping off customers by selling highly priced speakers but really weak in technical specs. Many time these companies actually don’t even publish this fact visibly and you have to dig deep in to their websites to find technical data. The 2nd criteria was that the speakers should have at least 10W of power. In my view, speakers that you intend to keep 3-4 feet away and that have less than 5W of power don’t sound much better than laptop speakers because they will need to run at 50-70% of volume and all the distortion that would occur at higher end. The 3rd criteria was magnetic shielding because speakers would be placed near computer equipment. Although with LCD screens this really doesn’t matter but still having shielding is nice. My 4th criteria was price should be less than $100 although I was little flexible here to shell out more money for better speakers.

Now the ONLY speakers in market that not only meets all these 4 criteria but also exceeds them are Eagle Tech ET-AR504LR.

Sound Quality: These speakers are UNBELIEVABLE. Quite a few of my colleagues who came to my office and listen to these speakers were simply blown away with the clarity, quality of bass and crispness. For fun I asked them to guess the price and answers I got were in the range of $150 to as far as $350 . When listening to lot of my old music on these speakers I can now clearly hear many background instruments that I didn’t used to hear before. Bass is very powerful, deep and pleasant like what you would hear from high end home theater system. Also they have dedicated twitters so high pitch sounds have amazing clarity unlike many 2.1 desktop speakers which only focuses on deep bass.

Wattage: These babies sport 75W. To put it in perspective, I can literally hear music down the hallway 4 offices away and through many many walls (each office is about 12-15 ft wide)! The bass gets so powerful that you can see vibration in glass window! Even at 1/3th volume my colleague in next office can hear and feel that bass . Good thing is that even at high volume they retain their sound quality. Most of the time however I play music at 10% to 18% of full volume.

Shielding: The build quality of these speakers is excellent. I have placed them near laptop, near PC, near LCDs and everything has worked fine as before. All speakers, especially the big bass one, are enclosed in high quality wooden construction.

Size: These speakers are about twice bigger than usual portable speakers you see on desktops. Bass speaker is even bigger and heavier. So these are not something that you can carry around with you all the time in your laptop bag. They are best for fixed desktop work space.

Stereo cable length: I feel it’s bit shorter but I haven’t felt yet need to buy that 3.5mm stereo extender from Radioshack. The built-in cable length works for my desktop table arrangement.

Other stuff: The front of these speakers have cool blue LEDs and electronic equalizers although I haven’t found its use. It also comes with remote control which also I have never used but its nice to have.

Bottom line is that these speakers throws every other speakers in dust even those expensive ones in $100-$200 range. You would want to listen music just because of superb sound quality of these speakers!

Bet you cant find another set better than this at this price level!
The sound is amazing! I never thought $50 could buy me a set like this. I was just looking for a average 2.1 speakers and didnt want to spend too much on it. Then I found Eagle 504 2.1 and I expected average sound quality from this unit since it’s only $50. But I was wrong about the sound…this set can definitely put out some quality sound that other name brand speakers hardly have. I’ve owned a $110 Altec Lansing 2.1 and a $90 Logitech and Eagle 504 surely delivers the best sound among all three sets. It’s just my opinion but I think that’s what normal folks like me would think. BTW, the speakers are mostly made of wood instead of plastic, which is a very nice touch.

amazing sounds
PROS: this is one amazing speaker, period. the moment i opened my box i knew that right away, you can tell from the attention to details in the user manual, packaging and most important of all: sound quality. the highs are clear and the lows are tight, it really sounds on par with the much more expensive Z4 i have hooked up to my wife’s PC. Now that i am building a new HTPC for myself (wife never understood my passion for HTPC…) i decided to give this one a try and couldn’t be happier. couch potatoes like me will really appreciate the remote control (for those LOTR fanatics, you know how loud the movie can get, and I needed a quick way to turn down the volume)

CONS: the RCA audio cables coming from the satellites are way too short. i mean come on!! my leg is longer than that… Okay – that was annoying but not a deal breaker since i solved that with a trip to a local RadioShack and picked up a pair of RCA audio cables for less than $2. the other annoying thing is that for some reason my speakers came with the volume all turned up, so it literally blew me away the moment i first tried listening to it. for those setting up this speakers for the first time, remember to press that “reset” button on the remote, your ears will thank you.

CONCLUSION: i highly recommend this set of speakers to anyone looking for high quality audio. if you were looking to spend around ~$100 on a set of brand name speakers then this one will do the job just as well at half the price. Amazon’s free shipping makes this a complete steal. search after search, i could not find a lower price and higher quality 2.1 speaker than this.

Excellent Computer for an Excellent Price
I’ve owned my computer for almost a week now, and I’m absolutely loving it. For the money I almost bought an Hp with a T6600 processor and 320GB hard drive etc etc. I bought this for the same price as the other hp and got MORE memory and a better processor. Why wouldn’t you want an upgrade of 180 GB hard drive for free? If your a student and like to have lots of music, videos and play light gaming and still have tons of room for your homework and projects, this is a great computer.

I also love how its 14″ monitor, so I can take it anywhere and fit it into any bag. It has a very sleek and glossy exterior. A little bit of work to keep clean, but that’s no reason not to buy a computer. The speakers are great for a laptop. I was actually surprised how clear sounds and music was. As with most HP laptops, you get the lightscribe burner, which is great, but it also comes with a disc replacement thing so if you don’t care to use a disc drive, you can remove it and save some weight. But really it doesn’t weigh that much.

The only downfall I have with this computer is the slightly low battery life. I think a little bit of that might be my fault cause I just plugged in and played rather than letting the battery charge fully first before I started playing with it.

Great laptop for the price.

HP, please do something about your batteries…
I had have this computer for a month now, so here goes nothing:

Pros:
- Excellent design
- 4GB Ram, enough for most tasks
- 500GB hard drive, for me that’s enough for now
- Small size and little weight (even lighter when DVD is removed, which is an excellent feature in itself)
- Windows 7 (better than Vista, we’ll see about XP)
- EXCELLENT PRICE

Cons:
- Battery life is about 2 hours, bound to decrease within 6 months, not on par with most other laptops this size.
- Touchpad really has a mind of its own on ocassion.
- Glossy design is beautiful, but it’s also a fingerprint magnet
- Opening it is a cumbersome task, not really bad, but a little.
- Windows 7 “64bit” – Some old programs I use refuse to work in such environment.

All in all a solid laptop, with excellent features (and minor inconveniences), but please, HP, this is my third HP laptop and the batteries have never been your forte. (yet I keep buying HP) DO SOMETHING!

UPDATE: The battery won’t last for more than an hour and a half, so I took two stars off my review for this major inconvenience. Sorry to say this, but I no longer recommend this purchase.

Great Value
I switched from a Mac to this PC, and I’m very glad I did. Windows 7 is pretty great. There’s a decent amount of junk software preloaded, but also some useful software (media organizers/ players, etc), and useless but fun games.

Other than that, what’s not to like, especially now that it’s $50 less than the $700 I paid for it? It’s 14″, so it’s transportable. Has a DVD drive, a ton of memory, is really fast. Multiple programs run easily. Battery lasts about three hours, but can last longer with wireless/ speakers turned off.

In contrast to some negative reviews, I have had zero problems with the computer overheating. The only reasons I can think to not purchase it are if you wanted either Bluetooth or Bluray capabilities directly installed, as it doesn’t have either.

GOOD Ink !
I use this ink in my HP Photosmart P1100 color printer. Great results – - especially when used with HP paper. But for the best value, consider buying the high-capacity cartridge. The model# (SKU) for that is C6578AN. The cartridge is the same physical size, but it contains more ink. But whatever you buy, be sure to store it UPRIGHT. That helps prevent bubbles or air pockets that can form inside which can cause imperfections on the printed page.

I bought the HP printer due to quality & long lasting ink!
After researching several printers for photo quality, I purchased the P1100. Not only are the photos beautiful the ink jet cartridges last much longer than their competitors. I also own a Lexmark, NEC and Cannon. The ink seems to always run out faster and the price is comparable.

This price is fantastic for this cartridge…

HP still has a monopoly, but their cartridges ARE improving
I’ve owned a HP printer which required the use of the 1823D cartridge, and this cartridge seems to be a vast improvement over that one. I’d estimate that it seems to print about 30-40% longer than that earlier-designed HP cartridge. Of course that could be put down to the printer itself, but the point is that I get more life out of this cartridge than my last ones.

This is moderately good news for anyone, like me, concerned about the monopolistic nature of ink jet cartridges in general. While I generally think that the Justice Department would be better-served to spend time investigating the monopoly of ink-jet supplies than Microsoft, at least it appears that HP is trying to improve their products.

Out of completeness, it should be pointed out that the Amazon description, above, fails to mention that this is the cartridge for the 1220 series as well as the 900 one.

The power cords on ALL of my laptops eventually wear out at the coupling site. This is a manufacturing issue that needs to be addressed! Back to my review…this power cord replacement does the job, was inexpensive and saved this computer. I was not willing to pay over $50 as this is an older Dell (drifting cursor another issue). For very little money I was able to get more time off of this unit. Good product / good price. Got my moneys worth.

Great value, great HTPC
I don’t normally write reviews, but this little guy blew me away. For $125 more so over the 1600 you’ll get dual core, 2GB RAM, Windows 7, wireless keyboard and mouse and the VESA mount (its included). And the dual core will make a difference if you are playing back 1080P source material.

Be sure to download the flash beta 10.1 which uses the Ion processor’s hardware acceleration or you will be disappointed. Also need the latest NVIDIA drivers. I’m playing movies both through Media Player Classic – Home Cinema and utilizing the PC to run the latest BOXEE beta which while having some bugs really is fun to play with. Boxee will consolidate your media library on your PC or network share (I’m using an UNRAID server, which is fabulous as a media server) along with content from the internet (TV shows, Movies, Apps, You Tube etc..). Thinking about playing with XBMC next (Which Boxee is based on).

The HDMI out is working great for both Video and Audio (not all HDMI outs on PC’s support audio as I found out the hard way). There is a utility with the NVIDIA graphics to size the desktop to exactly your flat screen dimensions (no need to play with aspect ratio on your TV).

While not my use, it would make a great extra PC for the kids or significant other if all they do is surf, with an occasional word document here or there.

The PC is really quiet, I simply can not hear it at all and it stays nice and cool.

Highly recommended, but I guess you knew that already!

Perfect starter HTPC
I started out with a desire to find a pc capable of playing HD content with a small form factor that i could attach to the ceiling projector mount in my living room. I started with the 1600 revo, but the single core cpu of that unit wasn’t enough to handle anything flash based, even with the beta versions of flash that utilize GPU processing. However this unit is the cats meow with the dual core atom. I have yet to find anything that it won’t play. The ion platform with the dual core cpu is hard to beat for the money. This unit gets the job done and connects to my desktop that maintains my collection of videos. One thing to note that this unit has a wireless keyboard / mouse and wireless network, where as the 1600 does not. Oh, and if you can’t figure out how to connect the mouse / keyboard to the PC, open the mouse battery compartment and you’ll find the USB receiver plugged in next to where the batts go.

Excellent Media Center
I purchased this product from CDW because Amazon was not carrying it at the time.

That being said, I am thrilled with its performance. I currently use it as a media center pc in my living room where it is connected to a TV (HDMI) and a monitor (VGA).

The included documentation is a little light, but honestly if you don’t know how to connect some wires and hit a power button you don’t need this computer.

As for performance, I have had no issues with it thus far and in fact the dual-core atom as performed better than expected. I suspect that this is due to the dedicated video card. I may increase the amount of ram (includes 2GB but upgradable to 4GB) though atm I don’t see a real need.

The included wireless mouse and keyboard are attractive and go nicely with the computer. They work very well out to at least six feet (haven’t tried going out any farther).

My only complaint is that the VESA mounting brackets were not included at the time of purchase, though this may have changed.

Sturdy mount, works very well
The mount consists of two pieces. One piece fastens onto your handlebars. It attaches very firmly and will prevent the unit from moving even over the roughest terrain. The other piece replaces the standard battery compartment cover on the GPS. When you want to mount the GPS to your bike you just snap the two components together.

I was impressed by the quality of the pieces and suspect that it will be very durable. I only have two negative comments regarding this design. First, the handlebar mounting piece is tightened on via a screw. I have a road and a mountain bike and will want to switch the unit between the two. I would have preferred some sort of quick release mechanism that does not require the use of tools. Secondly, I wish that the battery cover did not have to be replaced with the new one. The one that comes with the bike mount is not rubberized and it has a clip on it that could catch on things. That means that you’ll want to put the original cover back on the GPS if you want to use it as a hand-held. Having to use two different covers means that there is just one more piece that you’ll need to remember to bring on your trips – and one more thing to possibly lose somewhere.

Despite these gripes, I am very impressed with the mount and can recommend it.

Works well, with a few reservations
I’ve been using an E-Trex for hiking, kayaking and biking pretty much since it came out, and I’m still pretty much enamored of it. This adapter certainly makes it easy to use the E-Trex on your bike, but I do have a few reservations about it.

The adapter plate consists of a replacement for the battery compartment cover on the E-Trex and an adapter that clamps on to the handlebars with a screw. Remove the stock cover, slap on the replacement and it’s ready to clip on the bike. If you intend on only using the E-Trex on your bike, this works pretty well. If you plan on using your E-Trex for more than one sport, you may be changing covers back and forth regularly, since the replacement cover doesn’t fit easily in a shirt or PFD pocket,

While the regular battery compartment cover seals via a rubber coating over the entire cover, the cover that comes with this adapter uses a skinny O-ring that’s supposed to sit in a groove on the cover. The problem is that it pops out every time you remove the cover, whether to change batteries or just to switch covers. It’s easy to drop the O-ring and it’s a bit of a fussy job to get it back in the groove. Once sealed in, it seems waterproof enough.

Since my main use for my E-Trex is kayaking, I finally decided to stick with the original cover and gave the adapter away to a friend. If you plan on using your E-Trex exclusively on a bike, though, this is definitely the way to go.

Motorcyle riders: very useful accessory, but…
I planned buying it for mounting my e-Trex Venture on my motorcycle. None of the reviews here could help me in getting rid of my worry: will it fit in my handlebar? I assumed it will, so I purchased it. The result? PERFECT FIT. Using the thick rubber strap I could securely attach the handlebar mount and the GPS clicked-in in a snap. Naturally there’s a lot less vibration on a street/road motorbike handlebar than that on a mountain bike, so that would not be a problem for me. I was wrong, since I noticed several times GPS suddenly turned off while riding. So be careful ’cause battery lid can actually provoke false electric contacts from time to time, turning the GPS off. I got through this by placing a thin piece of foam over the batteries which made the lid to close tighter and solved the problem.

Fast and large CF card
I upgraded from my 20MB/s 8GB card when I got my new Canon 7D camera. The new camera takes pictures approximately 30mb per image, at 6 pictures per second. This card does not lag unless I shoot dozens of pictures in a burst.

I take pictures at concerts and tend to take bursts of 2-6 pictures every few seconds (lighting changes fast and people move fast). This card works amazingly well with my camera, I highly recommend it.

32Gb Sandisk
Sandisk 32GB 60MB/sec compact flash card is a good product. I went on vacation for 11 days. I took at leatd 4000 pictures and video using my new Canon 7D. The CF card performed beautifully. I really like this card.

big and quiet
This 250Gb drive replaced the original 80Gb drive in my G4 PB. The drive affords plenty of extra storage space and by thus adds some extra life to the machine. The reviewer who mentioned that the drive is noisy must have gotten a defective unit: my drive is as quiet as it could be – I can barely hear it in a quiet room and absolutely can not hear it if there is any background noise such as office or lab chatter. The old drive was much smaller and noisier. Very worthwhile upgrade!

Withstood my first week abuse
When I bought this item it was listed as “Western Digital 250GB 2.5″ PATA Bulk/OEM Hard Drive WD2500BEVE” on Amazon. That link now takes me to “Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250GB 2.5″ PATA 5400RPM 8MB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive WD2500BEVE”. I am not sure if these are the same. I also bought “Apricorn EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL EZ Upgrade Universal Hard Drive Upgrade Kit” to clone the hard drive of my Toshiba 1115-S1554 that began complaining weeks ago of an imminent hard drive failure. I made an clone of the old drive and exchanged the drives. New image did not boot. I partitioned the hard drive in to two 125BG blocks and cloned – that did not work. I imaged using XXClone, that also did not boot. Then I partitioned so that the boot partition had same size as the old one (partitioned to 40GB, 90GB and 120GB blocks) and tried separately Apricorn cloning software and XXClone imaging unsuccessfully again and again. Eventually I ended up installing OS from fresh using Toshiba recovery package that came with the laptop years ago. It worked. In the process I must have mechanically installed and uninstalled this 250GB hard drive more than a dozen time each in the laptop and Apricorn enclosure and partitioned and formatted several times. Even after all this, the WD 250GB hard drive is working like a champ. I am glad that that the clucking noise I was used to hear from my old drive is gone. I have a quiet working laptop at the end with plenty of storage space. I have several other WD drives that work reliably. I would recommend this product.
